Overview
The Government of Jamaica, through the Planning Institute of Jamaica embarked on a strategic plan geared at transforming Jamaica into a developed country by 2030. This Plan dubbed Vision 2030 viewed Information and Telecommunication Technology (ICT) as a sector in its own right as well as an enabler for all other sectors, including economic, social, and environmental and governance sectors. ICT has been the main driving force in major developed economies such as China, India, The United States, Canada and the United Kingston as well as Germany.
There is an international push to make the Caribbean an international center for Animation outsourcing. The certificate serves as a launching pad for a career in graphic design, animation and web development.
Curriculum
The curriculum is designed to give students an introduction academic life while preparing students to be job ready.
Through each semester the learners are engaged in hands on projects. These projects will develop technical, design, project management and other critical skills required to develop visual designs in the profession globalised creative industry.

Visual Design: Students will be exposed to photographing principles as was as image manipulation using Adobe Photoshop. Student will take on advanced graphic design using Adobe Illustrator to create more sophisticated designs.
Video Editing: Students are exposed to basic video editing using Adobe Premiere.
General Knowledge: Students will be exposed to entrepreneurship, project management as well as script writing.
The learner will be exposed to project management and professional development and intellectual property rules and laws.
Learners are encouraged to take the adobe international certifications in Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Premiere and Adobe Illustrator.
The course is a project based curriculum to ensure that students develop applied skills in Visual Design.
